Microsoft Latest 'Laptop Hunters' Commercial (MSFT)
Microsoft's (MSFT) latest "Laptop Hunters" commercial features "Sheila," a "filmmaker" . She passes up a 15-inch Apple (AAPL) MacBook Pro -- "it only has two gigabytes of RAM" -- and buys a 16-inch HP instead, which has more memory and a bigger screen.
Checking out the specs on HP's Web site, she does seem to be getting a better deal. But the HP does not have an aluminum body, and is not as portable.

Obama advices ex-astronaut to lead NASA
The CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - President Obama intends to name former astronaut Charles F. Bolden to head NASA. If confirmed by the Senate, Bolden would become the first African-American NASA administrator.
Obama's choice came in statements from NASA and the White House. The president also intends to nominate former NASA official Lori Garver, who headed Obama's space transition team, to become deputy administrator.
"These talented individuals will help put NASA on course to boldly push the boundaries of science, aeronautics and exploration in the 21st century and ensure the long-term vibrancy of America's space program," Obama said in a statement.

BHU BHU 2009 IT BHU Develops Cheaper Motor Technology
PTI reported that Linear Induction Motor rail metro system developed by the Banaras Hindu University can save more than INR 100 crore per kilometer if adopted for the proposed metro project here in place of the conventional metro system including used in Delhi metro.
The LIM system already running in Japan as a transport method has been researched by the scientists of BHU and awaits a proper consideration by the authorities concerned to apply the technology as a new form of metro rail system in the country.
The LIM system once used will lead to a major cost reduction as the tunnel diameter required for this system is as low as 4 meters compared to 6.2 meters for the conventional metro system. Also, in the absence of adhesion driving and major rotary parts, the LIM system will require reduced maintenance which has become a major problem in the country.
Mr SN Mahendra head of electrical engineering department of Institute of Technology BHU said that “The LIM technology, if adopted will prove to be 30% to 40% cheaper than the Delhi metro.”

HP'S MINI LAPTOP
HP'S MINI LAPTOP-2133

Configuration of HP Note Book 2133
The HP 2133 offers several different options than the Eee. Depending upon which pre-configured model you pick, the 2133 ranges anywhere from a system running Linux to a model using Microsoft's Windows Vista Business operating system. The low-end Linux version, which sports a 1GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM--is probably the closest matchup for the Eee. The Vista machine we review here today sits at the top-end with a 1.6GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM.
Right off the bat, the 2133's a looker. The aluminum casing makes the little laptop feel more substantial that its Asus competitor--and it is. Weighing two pounds, 13 ounces, the 2133 just feels way more capable of taking a beating than the plastic Eee (which weighs about two pounds).
A little larger than the Eee, the 2133 measures 10.04 inches in length by 6.5 inches in width by 1.05 inches in depth, and every inch counts. This allows for a crisp 8.9-inch display capable of a 1280 by 768-pixel resolution and a comfortable, large keyboard. In fact, considering the device's form factor, this is a perfectly proportioned layout for dainty digits and thick fingers alike.
This laptop also happens to be a feature-heavy mini-notebook offering everything the Eee does (this includes three USB slots, an ethernet adapter, an SD card reader, VGA out, a Webcam, a microphone, and integrated Wi-Fi), then tops it with a PC Express card slot.
